AI for creating avatars
VAIB is an artificial intelligence tool that enables us to create dozens of avatars automatically from our selfies. At least, that is what it is supposed to do, but the system rings all our alarm bells.
Dozens of fishy photos and permissions
The editor works in the following way. First, it asks us about our gender and to 20 varied photos in which our face is clearly shown from different angles and in different poses. Next, we have to enter a phone number and confirm it with an OTP code.
One profile picture is simply not enough.
Lastly, it gives us two options: invite seven friends from our list or pay. The first alternative involves giving the app permission to access our list, while the second doesn't seem to work too well.
In exchange, the app should give us 60 unique avatars immediately and five more every day (with their corresponding watermark) for one month. And yes, it does what it says. However, asking us for so much personal information is still a bit fishy. Therefore, caution is advised before ing the APK file and blithely sharing private information.
